Leonard and Marie, homeowners in Apex, were facing problems with their faulty doors. Although the doors appeared to be in decent condition, their functionality was practically nonexistent therefore faulty doors. The front door was losing its integrity, and the threshold was worn out and had no airtight seal. The wood frame was also not able to withstand the elements, causing the door to deteriorate quickly. The back French door was also suffering from the same issues, with the door revealing daylight, no insulation in the frame, and no sealing, allowing bugs to enter the home at will.
The couple approached Kelly Window and Door for a consultation, and our consultants offered several design options and door choices, to replace their faulty doors paying close attention to their specific requests. The homeowners wanted specific colors, and functionality was a significant element to consider. The consultants recommended several options, and after careful consideration, the couple chose Kelly Window and Door.
Expert Door Installation and Customization Options
Our team provided the couple with a ProVia Legacy Steel 006 Style 20 gauge Single Entry Door with 160 Style Steel Sidelites that had ComforTech DLA-UV Chinchilla Privacy Glass with a Plum exterior and Snow Mist White interior.
Additionally, we provided them with a matching ProVia Spectrum 291H Full View Single Hung Storm Door. For the back French door, we provided them with a 460 Style, 20 Gauge Steel, French Double Patio Door with internal grids in Snow Mist White interior and exterior.
During the installation process, our team discovered rot in the bottom of the opening for the backdoor. After investigating the issue, we were able to replace the rotting wood with fresh new structural wood and re-flash and insulate the opening to manage water effectively. They encountered the same issue with the front door, but our team was able to remove the bad wood, replace it with new structural wood, and properly flash and insulate the area.
